Sion W. Carter
Board Certified Radiologist | Musculoskeletal Radiology

Dr. Carter received a BS in Biology from Emory University and his MD from the University of South Florida. Internship and Residency Training was at Wake Forest University, Bowman Gray School of Medicine. After training, Dr. Carter entered private practice in Pensacola, Florida, becoming partner at the Medical Clinic Center, PA and attending physician in the Radiology section of West Florida Hospital. Leadership roles included Chairmanship of the Radiology department and a Director on the Board governing the 140+ member multi-specialty clinic.

After nine years of practice he obtained additional fellowship training in Musculoskeletal Radiology and MRI under Dr. Stephen Pomeranz at ProScan Imaging in Cincinnati, Ohio. Subsequently, he joined a private practice radiology group in Tampa, Florida, where he was a partner and attending physician at St. Joseph’s Hospital for 14 years. Leadership roles included service as President, Outpatient Medical Director, and chairmanships of many committees. Recently, Dr. Carter co-founded Star Teleradiology, PLLC with Dr. Darren Buono.

Dr. Carter has 24 years of extensive experience in all areas of clinical radiology performed at high volume trauma and referral centers in Pensacola and Tampa, and via a large number of Teleradiology engagements. He has special interests in sports medicine imaging and has personally reviewed and interpreted MRI exams on many high profile professional athletes since 2001.
